So we built a portable fan heater that leans on dependable infrared warmth, and does it with materials that are meant to last and can be recycled cleanly at end of life.
What’s under the hood
This unit pairs a short-wave infrared element with a quiet, low-vibration fan to spread heat fast. At the core you’ve got a quartz tube and a carbon-based filament—picked for quick response and long service life. The 1200 W output is sized for small to mid rooms, and the thermostat keeps the temperature from chasing its tail. We use aluminum housings and high-purity copper wiring—good thermal transfer, and easier to separate for recycling when the heater finally retires. The grill is shaped to move air without catching, and the base has tip-over protection that cuts power if the unit gets knocked over.
Why it fits the way we work now
In workshops and homes that are serious about cutting waste, reliability and the ability to service the unit matter more than disposable bells and whistles. Infrared heat warms people and objects directly, so you feel the comfort sooner and you don’t have to run the heater as long. The materials are chosen for high recyclability, and the modular build keeps maintenance straightforward. If a part needs replacing, you swap the component—not the whole heater. Fewer replacements, less waste, and consistent comfort when it’s cold.
The practical details
This is an electric heater for indoor use, with a standard plug and 120 V compatibility. Keep it on a level, hard surface, and leave at least three feet of clearance around it. It’s not rated for wet conditions, so keep it out of bathrooms and uncovered outdoor spots. For longer run times, pair it with a room thermostat or timer to keep energy use in line.
