Ever noticed how some infrared bathroom lamps feel like you’re staring directly into the sun? Most of these lamps use short-wave radiation to get things warm fast. It works, but the glare is brutal. If you’re using one for a baby, that’s a real problem. Infants have eyes that are still developing, and hitting them with high-intensity light just isn’t right. So, we decided to fix the light, not the heat. The trick is in the filter. We didn’t just turn down the brightness—that would just make the lamp cold. Instead, we used specific quartz coatings and a special filament to shift the light spectrum. Essentially, we block out those harsh, visible frequencies that hurt your eyes and double down on the mid- and long-wave infrared bands. You still get all that cozy, skin-deep warmth, but without the blinding flash. It’s gentle. It’s also about where the heat goes. We designed the lamp to push heat downward in a tight, concentrated cone. By using a reflector housing, we make sure the rays don’t wander. This means if you’re standing just outside the heating zone, your eyes aren’t getting blasted. And since these things go from ice-cold to 500°C in a heartbeat, we used a heavy-duty quartz envelope. It won’t crack under the pressure. Now, here’s the honest part. Filtering the light comes with a small price. Because we’re blocking some of those visible wavelengths to protect the eyes, you lose a tiny bit of raw energy. You might notice it heats up about 5-10% slower than some industrial lamp you’d find in a factory. But honestly? In a home bathroom, that’s a trade-off I’ll make every single time. When a lamp is sitting right above a baby’s head, safety wins over raw wattage. Just wire it into your standard circuit, and the filter handles the rest.
