The white coating is there to shape the spectral output and boost reflectance inside the heating tunnel, so you get repeatable heating across the preform wall. We spec it to the power and mounting standards most blow molders run — R7s base options included — with voltages that line up with typical machine configurations. In practice, that means quicker ramp-up, stable zone temps, and fewer hot and cold spots.
Why this works on a PET line
On a PET blow molder, cycle time and consistency make or break the numbers. This lamp supports faster preform heating without overshoot, so you can push cycle rates higher without scorching the material. So what does that mean? Higher throughput and less scrap from off-spec bottles. It also cuts energy draw by delivering heat more directly to the preform, and the white coating helps reduce heat loss inside the tunnel. The practical details you can’t skip
Installation is straightforward, but the lamp’s performance lives or dies on clean reflectors, proper clearance, and stable airflow in the heating zone. Make sure the lamp wattage and voltage match your blow molder’s specs, and that the reflector geometry is compatible — mismatched reflectors will come back to bite you with uneven heating. Handle it carefully. Quartz is tough, but fingerprints and contamination will shorten life. If your line runs long hours, put reflector cleaning on a schedule and check lamp alignment regularly to keep heating uniform.
