
Getting Your SACMI Rotary Lines to Heat Up Faster
If you’re running SACMI rotary blow molding machines, you know how fast things move. The window you have to get those PET preforms heated is tiny. If your lamps are lagging, you’re losing money. That’s why we built our infrared lamps to cut out the startup lag. We wanted something that hits the right temperature and stays there, even when the line is screaming. The secret is in the response time. Most people don’t think about thermal mass, but it’s everything. We use high-density tungsten filaments that get hot in seconds. Why does that matter? Because it means you don’t have to throw away the first few bottles of a production run just because they were under-heated. We tweaked the wattage-to-length ratio so the heat actually hits the preform the moment it needs to. No fuss, just a drop-in fit. We use high-purity quartz because these lamps take a beating. They’re constantly clicking on and off, and that kind of thermal shock would crack cheaper glass. As for the installation, we kept it simple. Whether your machine uses R7s or Sk15 connectors, we’ve got you covered. You just pop them in. No rewiring the oven, no headaches, no spending four hours on a “simple” swap. A quick word on the heat. If you’re dealing with thick-walled preforms, you’ll want the high-wattage lamps. They ramp up fast, which is great, but there’s a catch. More power means the inside of your oven gets a lot hotter. Just double-check that your cooling blowers are actually doing their job. If they aren’t, you risk overheating the PET or, worse, frying your sockets. At the end of the day, it’s just basic physics. Less lag means less scrap. And less scrap means your line keeps moving.
